A Message From the Executive Vice President and Chief Academic Officer

I am honored to introduce the Jones College Napier School of Design and Building Arts Initiative. Our mission is to equip the next generation of craftsmen and artisans with the skills and knowledge to shape the future of our communities. This initiative reflects our deep commitment to revitalizing neighborhoods and empowering students to lead in the fields of construction, design, and the building trades. More than an expansion of our academic programs, this initiative is a vital response to the workforce gap in skilled trades. Carpenters, designers, and craftspeople are key to restoring and renewing small towns across our region and beyond. By addressing this need, we are preparing our students to not only enter their careers with confidence but also to be part of something larger—restoring and revitalizing the places we call home. Your support is essential to making this vision a reality. By investing in the Napier School of Design and Building Arts, you are helping to provide hands-on opportunities for students to gain real-world experience and to emerge as leaders in their communities. Together, we can inspire a new generation to build, restore, and breathe new life into towns across America.

BUILD TOGETHER

Jones College is developing a project that will have a significant impact on hometown communities throughout the southeastern United States. By renovating an existing building on the Ellisville campus, Jones College is poised to enhance the education of future students in construction, design, and building trades. This initiative is made possible through a collaboration with Erin and Ben Napier, stars of the HGTV show Home Town and alumnus Jones College (2004).

In the seventh episode of season eight of Home Town, Erin and Ben Napier generously agreed to give Jones College the naming rights to the newly established Erin and Ben Napier School of Design and Building Arts. This school aims to establish a new foundation for education in construction, design, and building trades, providing Mississippians with the essential skills to construct and reconstruct small towns across America. Additionally, Jones College intends to design this new school as a replicable model, creating opportunities for small town revitalization nationwide.

PURPOSE

The purpose of the Jones College Napier School of Design and Building Arts is to address the workforce gap of skilled building designers, carpenters, and craftspeople that are needed to restore and preserve small towns across Mississippi.

Giving Information

Securities: Donating securities, such as stocks or bonds, can be a tax-efficient way to contribute to a cause. By gifting appreciated securities, you may avoid capital gains taxes while supporting your chosen organization. When transferring stock proceeds, ensure you specify the name of the fund to which the securities should be deposited. This clarity ensures that your contribution goes directly to the intended purpose, aligning with your philanthropic goals.

Donor Advised Accounts: A Donor Advised Account allows you to make a charitable contribution, receive an immediate tax deduction, and then recommend grants from the fund over time. It provides a flexible and strategic approach to charitable giving.

IRA: Contributing to a charity directly from your Individual Retirement Account (IRA) can offer tax advantages, especially for those aged 70½ or older. This Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) can fulfill your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) while supporting a cause you care about.

Planned Gifts: Consider leaving a legacy through planned gifts, such as bequests, charitable remainder trusts, or charitable gift annuities. These arrangements allow you to support a cause while providing potential financial benefits for you and your heirs.

Matching Gift: Check if your employer offers a matching gift program. This means your contribution is matched, doubling the impact of your donation. It's a simple way to increase the value of your gift without extra cost to you.

Life Insurance: Designating a charity as the beneficiary of a life insurance policy can be a meaningful way to make a significant future gift. This method allows you to support a cause without impacting your current financial situation.
