JCJC’s Bobcat Math League week 2 of competition

ELLISVILLE – With many of the teams enjoying the first week off from competition, rivals had the chance to prepare for this week of matches. Presbyterian Christian High School slaughtered the Seminary Bulldogs 105-21 in the Bobcats first week of play. Mallory Vial of PCS leads the individual competition with the highest average of correct answers in competition at a 90 percent accuracy rate. Seminary now has two losses in the Pythagoras Division. The Cougars of Lawrence County continue to knock off teams with their latest victim being Sacred Heart, 62-47. In the individual point’s competition, Lawrence County’s Ben Rushing slipped this week coming in at an 85 percent accuracy rate.   Collins had the week off.
 
In the Fibonacci Division, perennial contenders, the Wayne County War Eagles barely knocked off the South Jones Braves, 66-61. Richton took a hit from the Northeast Jones Tigers disabling the Rebels who loss, 58-67 in the second week of competition for both teams. Perry Central did not compete this week.
 
The Quitman Panthers handed the Bay Springs Bulldogs their first loss of the season after having last week off. Quitman won with a score of, 48-29 in the Einstein Division. They were the only teams competing in their division this week with Stringer, Sylva Bay and Taylorsville having a bye. Taylorsville will face the Panthers in their first week of competition in week three of the Bobcat Math League. Bay Springs will try to “bully” their way to a win next week when they face the Sylva Bay Saints.
 
West Jones Mustangs’ narrowly escaped defeat with the Raleigh Lions, 33-27 in the Newton Division. The tornadoes of Laurel High whisked away the Pirates of Mt. Olive with Laurel winning the match, 37-23. The Mize Bulldogs had the week off from competition.
