JCJC Marketing department earns CPRAM Awards

ELLISVILLE – The Jones County Junior College Marketing department came home from the annual College Public Relations Association of Mississippi conference winning 13 awards. The team won five first place honors, seven second place awards and one third place accolade.
“It is exciting to work daily with a dynamic team of individuals that infuse creativity within each project that they produce. I look forward to continuing our success as we highlight the many wonderful opportunities Jones offers the community through our news and sports information, publications and web based products,” said Finee’ Ruffin, JCJC’s new Marketing Director.
For the third straight year, JCJC Sports Information Director Shawn Wansley won first place for Best Sports Story and this was the fourth time he earned the first place award in the six years of competition.
JCJC web administrator and JCJC.TV director and producer, Jared Meyers won top honors for the Charles Pickering Honors Institute web page and second place for the JCJC.TV web page. Meyers and production assistant, Tyler Cook's multi-media presentation on the Honors College took first place in that category, as well as second place honors for the multi-media presentation, "We Don't Want to Choke So Just Don't Smoke," with the assistance of graphic designer Gabe Bozeman. Meyers and Bozeman captured first place in the Digital Art/Photo Illustration category for the cover design of the 2012 President's Report.
The entire Marketing Department, consisting of Marlo Dorsey who has since left Jones, public information director and newspaper advisor, Kelly Atwood, director of media and public relations, Teresa Martin, JCJC marketing assistant and yearbook advisor, Rebecca Patrick, Bozeman, Meyers and Wansley, won second place with the annual president's report, “Celebrating 100 Years.” The team, along with Cook won first place for the “Smith County Courthouse Centennial” magazine in the Creative Partners category.
Other awards earned at the CPRAM conference include second place honors in the Creative Partners category was bestowed upon members of the marketing and math departments for the “Bobcat Math League” entry. The two departments worked together on the launch of the unique marketing campaign and media coverage of the first JCJC Bobcat Math League competition during fall 2012. The JCJC “Be Great” TV and radio commercials, and the television program, “2012 Basketball Media Day” won second place. The “President's Forum” earned third place accolades.
