ELLISVILLE - Continuing a twelve-year tradition, Jones County Junior College’s JC Jazz along
with JC Voices will present “Java and Jazz” on Tuesday, April 16, at 7 p.m. in the Auditorium of
the Ronald E. Whitehead Advanced Technology Center in Ellisville.  This free evening of music
  is being
held in a new location, according to JC Jazz Director, Jeff Brown to provide a more
  comfortable environment for the audience.

“We have moved this concert to the Advanced Technology Center to have a location large
enough for the growing audience. In years past, we’ve even had people get up and dance!”

The jazz band will begin the journey of jazz featuring works by works by Gordon Goodwin,
Mike  Carubia, Dave Brubeck, Don Menza, Mike Tomaro, and Chick Corea. Brown will also
premiere an original tune entitled, “Told You.”

In addition to JC Jazz, the JC Jazz Combo will also perform. This seven-member group is an
improvisation group, so every performance is truly unique, Brown noted.

Joining the musicians will be the premiere vocal group, JC Voices, directed by Fine Arts
Division Chair, Dr. Susan Smith and accompanied by Dr. Victoria Johnson. They will be
treating the audience to familiar tunes from the American Songbook as well as contemporary
jazz pieces such as My Lost Love, Bumble Bee, Fields of Gold, and Orange Colored Sky

It promises to be a lively evening with coffee and light refreshments along with jazz in all
forms, said Brown.   For more information contact the JCJC Fine Arts Department at
 601-477-4094.
