JCJC’s Jasper County Center offering non-credit classes

ELLISVILLE – Jones County Junior College’s Center in Bay Springs is offering three non-credit courses this fall: Stained Glass, QuickBooks 2010 and Turn it On!-Computers and technology.

Artists B.J. and Neil Hatten will be teaching the Introduction to Stained Glass non-credit course meeting on Tuesday evenings from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., on the Bay Springs campus.  The basic skills learned in this course include being able to construct a colorful glass creation.  The $75 fee for the course does not include the cost for supplies which will be distributed at registration.  The deadline to register is September 13, with this course meeting on Tuesday, September 18 through October 23.  To see some of her work, go to her Facebook page, Facebook@NorthRiverStudios. 

QuickBooks 2010 is an accounting program for small businesses assisting in organizing areas of the company’s finances.  It is commonly used to manage bank accounts, billing cycles, invoices, payments and inventory as well as to create budgets and generate reports.  Crystal Nail, a business counselor for the JCJC Small Business Development Center, will be teaching the Thursday evening course.  Class will meet from 5:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. beginning October 18 through November 15.  The course costs $75 including the textbook and 1.5 CEU credit will be available upon request.  The deadline to register is October 10.

Turn it On! is a non-credit course for those who are intimidated by computers and technology.  Juanita Jefcoat will be teaching the very basics from turning on a computer to sending emails, finding websites, saving documents and pictures, to copying and pasting.  This course will meet on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. beginning September 11 through September 27, for $30.  The deadline to register is September 7.
