ELLISVILLE – Scholarships from Mississippi's Radiologist and Radiologic Technologist professional organizations will enable two Jones County Junior College students reach higher educational goals.

Recent JCJC radiography graduate, Abby Wickham received a scholarship from the Mississippi Society of Radiologic Technologist.
The M.S.R.T. awards a scholarship to one outstanding graduate from each of the state’s radiography programs each year. Among the requirements for the M.R.S.T. Scholarship, the graduate must have exceeded educationally in the program, has good moral character and plans to continue their education in medical imaging. The Natchez native plans to attend the Cardiac and Vascular Institute in Mobile, AL, this summer.

“I am so thankful for my scholarship provided by MSRT,” said Wickham.  “It means so much to me.  This money will help allow me to continue my education in the specialty of cardiac ultrasound.  I am forever grateful for the time that I spent at Jones in the Radiography Program.”

Stringer native, Sarah Wade was awarded the Mississippi Radiological Society scholarship which is sponsored by the professional organization for Radiologist in the state. Wade was awarded the scholarship based on the M.R.S. criteria of exceptional academic success, good moral character and plans to continue in the medical imaging field. Wade plans to attend the Jones County Junior College Sonography program in Ellisville, MS in August.

“Today in our economy, it is sometimes very difficult for a student to continue their education due to the financial strain. Thanks to organizations like the Mississippi Radiological Society and the Mississippi Society of Radiologic Technologist, students can reach their goals and help fill the void for qualified imaging professionals. We are very grateful for the financial assistance to our graduates from both these organizations,” said JCJC Radiography Program Director/Health and Human Services Division Chair, Sandy Cochran, M.S., B.S.R.T. (R).
