ELLISVILLE – Jones County Junior College recently hosted about 750 junior and senior high school students who are interested in a career and technical field.  The first JCJC “Career and Technical Day” featured tours of the 27 career and technical programs at the college along with the opportunity to see first-hand what the chosen career is all about.

JCJC director of recruitment, Kathryn Davis explained, “ It is important for students to see early on what their job will entail, what equipment they will use, what they will be doing at work and what their work environment will be like before they spend years in college and discover their perceptions about a chosen career does not match reality.”

Event organizers say they hope the day also gave students a better feel for where they may want to train for their career after high school.
