JC Voices Perform in Laurel

ELLISVILLE – Jones County Junior College’s vocal ensemble, JC Voices, conducted by Dr. Susan Smith and accompanied by Dr. Victoria Johnson, invites the public to its spring concert, Thursday, March 29, at 7 p.m. at First-Trinity Presbyterian Church in Laurel.    The 20-voice vocal ensemble will present the Imant Raminsh, Missa Brevis in C Minor and highlight other 20th century selections honoring dancing and singing. The audience will enjoy a wide variety of styles and languages. 
 
The concert will also feature a women’s and men’s small ensemble. The women’s ensemble,
“Chanticleer” will perform Gawthrop’s There is Sweet Music, and the men’s ensemble will perform a stunning rendition of the Mary Elizabeth Coleridge poem, When I Hear Her I Have Wings. Students featured throughout the program as soloists include Chance Ragsdale of Vicksburg, Hillary Smith of Lucedale, Brooke Armstrong of Newton, Lynn Arnold of Hattiesburg, Caitlyn Shows of Carriere and Staci Thornton of State Line.   The opening piece, The Singing Heart, will feature tone chime players, Brooke Armstrong, Latisha Hamilton of Raleigh, Thomas Ranshaw of Laurel, Kristie Reddoch of Taylorsville, and Staci Thornton.
