ELLISVILLE – Jones County Junior College is hosting a special viewing of the award winning play, “The Meeting,” by Jeff Stetson, in honor of Black History Month. The play is free to the public on Wednesday, February 22, at 12:30 p.m. in the JCJC Fine Arts Auditorium.
Coordinator of the play, Jetuan Stevens explains “The Meeting” is a portrayal of the, “exclusive access into a one-hour expose’ of rhetoric, passion and a lesson on the unity of diversity by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and Malcolm X.”
The portrayal of this meeting is a presentation by the Renaissance Theater Group. Stevens explained King and Malcolm X met once in March 1964, and yet their philosophies and ideas were similar throughout the civil rights era, but few remember them past their few iconic words. For more information contact Jetuan Stevens at 601-344-8061.
