JCJC book signing, Lunch & Learn, features “MasterChef” winner Whitney Miller

ELLISVILLE – Jones County Junior College will be hosting Fox-TV’s first “MasterChef” winner, Whitney Miller for its Thursday, October 20, Lunch and Learn at 11:45 a.m. The University of Southern Mississippi graduate’s recipes will be prepared by the JCJC Culinary Arts students and Miller will be sharing some of her cooking tips. The cost is $10 for the “Southern Cuisine” luncheon which will be held in the JCJC Life Science’s Dining Room. Reservations can be made by calling Janie Boykin at 601-477-4234 from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m., Monday through Friday. 
 
“Whitney proved she can hold her own by winning the TV cooking show.  Her win validated Southern cuisine.” said JCJC pastry chef, Micah Moore. “Our students are looking forward to working with her and learning from one of their peers.”
 
Prior to the “Lunch & Learn” with Miller, copies of her cookbook, “Modern Hospitality: Simple Recipes with Southern Charm” will be available for $24 for the book signing from 10 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. in the Life Science’s Dining Room.
 
Whitney Miller lives in Poplarville and is affectionately known as the “Pastry Princess” after impressing chefs in Fox TV’s “MasterChef” cooking show. She was only twenty-two years old when she auditioned and won the first title of “MasterChef.”  Miller has put her own twist on some of the South’s classic entrées. Her recipes have appeared in national publications and her book has been promoted nationally as well.  Since the TV show, she has earned her degree, with an emphasis in nutrition and is currently doing cooking demonstrations across the country and on TV, giving motivational speeches at schools, colleges and communities everywhere.
