ELLISVILLE – As a part of Jones County Junior College’s Centennial Celebration and homecoming festivities, during the month of October the art department is hosting the “Alumni Exhibit” in the Eula Bass Lewis Art Gallery. The exhibit includes the work of nine alumni: Amy Garner 05-07, Paula Pierce 77-79, Savannah Davis 08-09, Jessica Sherman 01-03, Mandy Buchanan 86-88, Tommie Rodgers 85-87, Amy Walters 93-94, Jennifer Davis 09-11, and Jason Kimes 96-98.

Melanie Eubanks, organizer of the exhibit and JCJC art instructor commented, “It is a treat to see what our former students are up to these days. The show looks great and it reflects a variety of ways of making art. There is something for everyone including ceramics, metal sculpture, painting, drawing and photography.”

In conjunction with JCJC homecoming activities, an artists’ reception will be held on Saturday, October 15, at 9 a.m. in gallery.

“We are excited to have the alumni artists’ reception during the homecoming activities,” said JCJC art instructor, Mark Brown. “We anticipate hosting many visitors, friends, and classmates of the artists, and encourage everyone to stop by to meet the artists and see the show.”

JCJC art instructor and guest alumna artist, Paula Pierce said she is excited to be a part of this special exhibit during a special occasion.

“It is especially interesting to see the different directions they have taken their artistic styles and techniques,” said Pierce. “We are pleased to have the opportunity to show the works created by former students.”

The Alumni Exhibit is free and open to the public. Gallery hours are Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. through 3 p.m., and Fridays, 8 a.m. until 2:30 p.m.
