ELLISVILLE - Plans are underway to make Homecoming at Jones County Junior College a special event.  This year’s theme is “Celebrating 100 years!” The weekend of activities begins Friday evening, October 14 with the 50-year reunion celebration at 5 p.m.  Reunions will be held for the Ellisville High School and JCJC classes of 1961.  The reunions will be held in the C.L. Neill Student Center for class members and their guests with a dinner at 6:00 p.m.  For more information call the Alumni office at 477-4145 or email jcjcalumniinfo@jcjc.edu.
Homecoming Day, Saturday, October 15, is slated to be an entire day of fun for all ages.  Events will begin at 9 a.m. with a reception for alumni and friends at Terrell Tisdale Library. At 10:30 a.m. the JCJC Homecoming Parade will wind through the streets of Ellisville and the campus. The parade will feature floats made by the student body, as well as the Maroon Typhoon Marching Band, JCJC cheerleaders, Touch of Gold, and of course, the 2011 Homecoming Queen and her court.
Join us for a pep rally following the parade at 11:30 a.m. in front of the C.L. Neill Student Center.  At noon the Alumni Association is hosting a luncheon for alumni and friends of Jones County Junior College in the A.B. Howard Gymnasium.  This year the Ellisville High School and JCJC classes of 1961 will be honored. The 2011 Honor Alumnus will also be recognized at the luncheon.  Bobcat Club tailgating begins at noon at the tennis complex.
Former JCJC football and cheerleaders will gather at noon for their reunions under the tents at Sim Cooley field.
The Homecoming Football game festivities will begin at 2:30 p.m. with the pre-game marching band show on the Sim Cooley Football Field at Bobcat Stadium. The game against East Central Community College will begin at 3 p.m.  A special treat for Jones fans will include a film crew videoing the game for the, “Mississippi Juco - Toughest League in America,” program.
At halftime, the Homecoming Court will be presented with the crowning of the 2011 Homecoming Queen, Haley Smith of Enterprise. Also during halftime, the JCJC and the Ellisville High School honored classes, and the 2011 Honor Alumnus will be honored at this time. The festivities will end with a performance by the Maroon Typhoon and Touch of Gold.
