Lady Bobcats post fourth straight shutout

ELLISVILLE – It was another sterling effort by the Jones County Junior College women’s soccer team here Wednesday at Bobcat Soccer Field.
Danica Roberts scored three goals, while Macey Endris and Morgan Pace added two goals each to lift the Lady Bobcats to a 7-0 victory over the Itawamba Community College Lady Indians.
The win moves JCJC to 4-0 on the year and it was their fourth straight shutout.
In the men’s game, Itawamba scored in the opening minute of play and went on to blank the Bobcats, 3-0.
The Bobcat soccer teams open South Division play at home on Saturday evening against Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. The women’s game begins at 5:30 p.m., followed by the men’s game at 7:30 p.m.
Itawamba visits Hinds on Friday.
Lady Bobcats 7, Lady Indians 0
Roberts got JCJC on the board in the 16th minute off an assist by Endris to make it 1-0. Roberts then scored in the 29th minute off an assist by Brandee Kovacevich. Endris scored in the 31st minute off an assist by Kovacevich and Roberts added her third goal of the first half in the 33rd minute off an assist by Kimberly Murray.
The Lady Bobcats made it 5-0 when Endris scored in the 52nd minute off an assist by Haley Crosby. Pace scored in the 67th minute off an assist by Roberts and Pace ended the scoring in the 88th minute off an assist by Chelsea Wooten.
Michelle Brumfield was in goal for JCJC in the opening half, while Aundrea Borchardt finished up in the second half.
ICC falls to 1-4 on the season.
Indians 3, Bobcats 0
Itawamba went up 1-0 just seconds into the game when Will Goodwin scored. ICC went up 2-0 when Abraheem Saleh scored in the 16th minute. The Indians closed the scoring in the final minute when Roy Miles scored.
The Bobcats are now 1-2-1, while Itawamba is 2-3.
