JCJC soccer teams take two from East Central

ELLISVILLE – The Jones County Junior College soccer teams tuned up for the regular season with some scrimmage games Tuesday here before a good crowd at Bobcat Soccer Field.
The defending MACJC and Region 23 champion Lady Bobcats whipped the East Central Community College Lady Warriors, 9-0. In the men’s game, JCJC downed East Central, 3-1.
The JCJC men’s team opens regular season play at 5 p.m. on Friday in Ridgeland against Holmes Community College. The Lady Bobcats begin regular season play at home at 6 p.m. on Saturday against Hinds Community College in a rematch of last year’s state championship game. The Lady Bobcats won that game, 1-0 in overtime.
Lady Bobcats 9, Lady Warriors 0
Danica Roberts and Macey Endris each had a ‘hat trick’ as the Lady Bobcats cruised to the victory. Roberts also had three assists in the game, in addition to scoring three goals.
Roberts got the scoring started at the 8:01 mark to make it 1-0. Kimberly Murray’s goal at 11:02 made it 2-0 and Morgan Pace’s goal at 35:02 made it 3-0. Endris got her first goal at 38:52 and Roberts closed the first half scoring just before time expired at 44:54 to give Jones a 5-0 lead.
Jessica Caldarelli started the second half scoring at 54:40 and Roberts added her third goal at 64:27. Endris then had goals at 71:35 and 76:53.
Pace had two assists, while Brandee Kovacevich, Britnee Kovacevich, Sarah O’Quinn and Leslie Masters each had one assist.
Bobcats 3, Warriors 1
Brandon Lee scored the Bobcats’ first goal, while Cole Mitchell got the second goal on an assist from Giuliano Mancini. Mancini got the third goal on a penalty kick.
