JCJC cheerleaders receive top honors at University of Alabama camp

ELLISVILLE – The 2011-12 Jones County Junior College cheerleaders picked up top honors at the annual University of Alabama Universal Cheerleading Association (UCA) College Cheerleading Camp in Tuscaloosa. The camp was held July 22-24.
The JCJC co-ed squad won Superior Blue Ribbons in all categories, including Cheer Chant, Cheer Sideline and Fight Song. The Bobcat cheerleaders finished third among junior colleges and first among all Mississippi schools.
“We were very proud of our cheerleaders,” said JCJC sponsor Angela Clayton. “They did a great job at camp.”
The Bobcat cheerleaders perform at all football games and home basketball games. They also participate in pep rallies and several other activities on campus, including “Meet The Bobcats,” which is scheduled for Aug. 30 at 6 p.m. at Bobcat Stadium/Sim Cooley Field.
The JCJC cheerleaders are also involved in numerous community activities.
The cheerleaders will lead the Bobcat football team onto the field for the season opener against Mississippi Delta Community College at 7 p.m. on Sept. 1.
The JCJC cheerleading squad is composed of mascot Shelby Thrash (South Jones), Lauren Ingram (George County), Shayna Hendry (South Jones), Kaitlyn McAndrews (Heidelberg Academy), Jessica Carr (George County), Jaycee Parker (West Jones), Lauren Harrison (West Lauderdale), Jordin Johnson (Clarkdale), Haley Updegraff (Richton), Hope Williams (West Lincoln), Robbie Lloyd (Harrison Central), Gavin Allen (Vancleave), Dylan Black (Vancleave), Steve Ingram (Harrison Central), Caleb McCarty (Raleigh), Kolby Clay (Vancleave), Josh Moran (Harrison Central), Cody Pate (Vancleave) and Kade Pierce (Heidelberg Academy).
