JCJC to play several home soccer matches "under the lights"

ELLISVILLE – The 2011 Jones County Junior College soccer schedule features several home matches ‘under the lights’ at Bobcat Soccer Field.
Lights were installed late in 2010 and will be ready for a full year of Bobcat soccer this year.
Both Bobcat teams will face East Central Community College in scrimmage matches on Tuesday, Aug. 23. The women’s match begins at 5:30 p.m., followed by the men at 7:30 p.m. Prior to that, the Bobcat men host William Carey University in a scrimmage at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 18, while the JCJC women will have an Alumni Game at a time to be announced on Saturday, Aug. 20. The JCJC men will have an Alumni Game on Saturday, Oct. 20.
The regular season home opener for the Lady Bobcats, however, will be an early morning affair when JCJC hosts Hinds Community College at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 27. Both teams will host Itawamba Community College on Wednesday, Sept. 7, with the women’s game starting at 2 p.m., followed by the men’s game at 4 p.m.
JCJC hosts Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College on Saturday, Sept. 10, in the South Division opener with the women’s game beginning at 5:30 p.m., followed by the men at 7:30 p.m.
The Bobcat teams will also host Meridian Community College on Wednesday, Sept. 21 (5:30/7:30 p.m.), Pearl River Community College on Friday, Sept. 23 (5:30/7:30 p.m.), Northwest Mississippi on Tuesday, Sept. 27 (2/4 p.m.), Southwest Mississippi on Saturday, Oct. 8 (2/4 p.m.), and Copiah-Lincoln on Tuesday, Oct. 11 (5:30/7:30 p.m.).
Also on tap this year is a women’s rematch between the Lady Bobcats and perennial national power Tyler Junior College (Texas). The Lady Apaches beat JCJC 4-1 in the District E Tournament last fall in Tyler. TJC was ranked No. 1 in the nation at the time.
Dolores Deasley enters her fourth year as Lady Bobcat head coach, after leading JCJC to a 15-3-1 record in 2010. The Lady Bobcats also won their first-ever MACJC and Region 23 championships.
Oleg Baleyev begins his sixth year as head coach of the men’s team after guiding the Bobcats to an 8-7 record last year.
