JCJC Marketing department earns CPRAM Awards

ELLISVILLE – The Jones County Junior College marketing department won twelve awards for their work at the annual College Public Relations Association of Mississippi conference and awards banquet. 
 
As a group, the seven member department took top honors in the Annual Report division with the President’s Report magazine. JCJC VP of marketing and magazine coordinator, Marlo Dorsey and JCJC director of presidential information and President’s Report editor, Kelly Atwood organize and design the publication which is printed annually. The Vision magazine, which Dorsey and Atwood also collaborate on together, received an honorable mention award in the Institutional Magazine category.
 
Other awards earned by the department include Atwood taking top honors for her news story, “Record Number of GED Graduates Hear Inspiring Advice.”   JCJC media and public relations director, Teresa Martin earned the second place award for her news story, “JCJC and County Partner to Expand Inmate Farm.”    Martin’s feature story, “The Many Roles of JCJC Musical Theater Director, Nikki Johnson” won third place honors. It featured Johnson’s passion for theater, which she discovered as a Jones student. 
 
The college’s 15 second “New to Jones” TV commercial series produced by Martin, won third place honors. Her photo from a Kid’s College activity called, “Ewww, gross! Kids’ College Dissection”, garnered an honorable mention award. The Bobcat Bulletin, an electronic alumni and foundation e-newsletter which Martin designs and coordinates, won an honorable mention award. 
 
Sports information director, Shawn Wansley received a couple of awards for his sports stories. He earned first place honors for the story, “JCJC Sideline Fixture in Elite Club” which is about longtime JCJC athletic trainer Joey Davis being inducted into the Mississippi Athletic Trainers Association Hall of Fame last summer. Second place accolades were given for Wansley’s story, “Robinson Focused on Task at Hand,” which is a feature story on JCJC defensive end Ryan Robinson, who signed a football scholarship with Oklahoma State University last year. The soccer media guide, which Wansley coordinates with graphic designer Gabe Bozeman earned an honorable mention award. Bozeman’s design of the Bobcat Football Schedule Key chain took second place honors in the Single Piece of Artwork for Sports category.
 
“I'm very proud of our public relations team,” said Dorsey. “This great group of professionals brings their best effort everyday to publish quality news stories highlighting every facet of Jones. From our websites to our printed publications, our team is committed to inspiring greatness in our students and our communities through their marketing efforts. I am thankful to have the opportunity to work with such a remarkable group.”
