JCJC Summer Registration Begins

ELLISVILLE–Jones County Junior College will hold summer registration on Tuesday, May 31 from 1 p.m. until 6 p.m. in the Academic Support Building. Before students can register, all entrance requirements must be met. Students must have a final high school and /or college transcript, or a GED score. An ACT score is also required. Prospective students need to complete an application for admission which is available on-line at www.jcjc.edu. The Admissions and Records office in the Hutcheson-Hubbard Administration Building can also determine if entrance requirements have been met. For more information call the Admissions and Records office at 477-4025.
 
Day classes begin Wednesday, June 1 through June 27. The second summer session begins July 11 and ends August 4. Evening classes meet May 31 through August 4.
 
Current students may also register for classes online after meeting with an advisor. Incoming freshmen or transferring students who are currently not enrolled may call the Student Success Center for an early registration appointment for summer or fall classes at 601-477-4149.
 
Jones also offers convenient class times and online classes for those who are unable to attend classes at the Ellisville campus. Summer classes also afford opportunities for new students.
 
 “Summer school is the perfect time for incoming freshmen to take one or more classes,” said Dr. Laverne Ulmer, JCJC VP of Instructional Affairs and Assessment. “They have an opportunity to become acclimated to the campus and enroll in small classes where they feel comfortable in participating in discussions. Returning students, along with the new students, also find they can enroll in required courses that will lighten their academic loads in the fall and spring semesters. The total atmosphere during summer sessions is much more relaxed.”
 
Students enrolling in the MSVCC (100% online classes) or Jones hybrid on-line classes (75% online classes) should register prior to June 1 by contacting the Student Success Center at (601) 477-4149. General information concerning the requirements of the on-line classes is available through the JCJC eLearning web page at http://www.jcjc.edu/elearning and at specified registration terminals. Initial communication from on-line instructors to students will be through the campus e-mail system.  Online classes begin Wednesday, June 1 through July 27. The on-line class fee is an additional $30 per MSVCC on-line class.
  
The registration fee for full time students is $18. Mississippi students will be charged $100 per semester hour and out of state students will be charged $195 per semester hour. Vocational students’ general fee varies per program. All students are charged a Technology fee of $3 per hour up to $36 and a $20 health fee for free visits to the campus nurse practitioner and use of fitness center.
