Game times announced for MACJC State Baseball Tournament

 ELLISVILLE – Jones County Junior College officials have announced the matchups and game times for the 2011 MACJC State Baseball Tournament.

The tournament will take place Thursday through Saturday at 520-seat, Community Bank Park here on the JCJC campus.

The four-team, double-elimination event begins with Game 1 at 2 p.m. on Thursday with a matchup between North Division champion Holmes Community College (29-15) and South Division runnerup Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College (23-20).

The 14th-ranked, South Division and tournament host Bobcats (35-14) will meet North Division runnerup Northwest Mississippi Community College (29-17) at 6 p.m. in Game 2.

The two losers from Thursday will meet at 11 a.m. on Friday in Game 3, while Thursday’s winners play at 2:30 p.m. in Game 4. Game 5 takes place at 6 p.m. on Friday between the winner of Game 3 and the loser of Game 4.

The championship contest, Game 6, begins at 2 p.m. on Saturday with an “if necessary” game to follow 30 minutes after the conclusion of Game 6.

All JCJC games in the MACJC State Tournament will be audiocast on with Lance Pittman on the call. Airtime for Thursday’s game vs. Northwest will be 5:55 p.m.

The top three teams from the tournament will advance to the Region 23 Tournament on May 19-21 at the site of the highest remaining North Division seed. The regional tournament will take place at either Holmes or Northwest.

The regional champion will advance to the NJCAA Division World Series May 28-June 4 in Enid, Okla.

Game 4, Winner Game 1 vs. Winner Game 2, 2:30 p.m.

Game 5, Winner Game 3 vs. Loser Game 4, 6 p.m.

Saturday’s games

Game 6, Winner Game 4 vs. Winner Game 5, 2 p.m.

Game 7, if necessary, 6 p.m.
