ELLISVILLE – In anticipation of severe weather on Wednesday, Jones County Junior College officials have moved the baseball games vs. Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College to Tuesday.

The South Division doubleheader will begin at 4 p.m. on Tuesday at Community Bank Park and it will be “Sophomore Day” as the sophomore Bobcat players and managers will be recognized.

Head coach Christian Ostrander’s Bobcats have clinched a berth in the playoffs. JCJC is 29-13 overall and currently leads the South Division at 15-5. MGCCC is second at 11-7, followed by Pearl River at 11-9 and East Central at 11-11. Hinds is fifth at 7-11, followed by Co-Lin at 8-14 and Southwest at 7-13. The top four teams qualify for the playoffs.

Northwest and Holmes are basically tied for first place in the North Division. The Rangers are 15-5, while the Bulldogs are 16-6. Itawamba is third at 13-7. Northeast and East Mississippi are in a virtual tie for fourth place. The Tigers are 11-9 and the Lions are 12-10. Mississippi Delta is 4-16 and Coahoma is 1-19.

If the Bobcats finish first or second in the division, they will host a best-of-three playoff series on May 6-7. If the Bobcats win that series and are the highest remaining South Division team remaining, they will host the MACJC State Tournament May 12-14.
