ELLISVILLE – The public is invited to the annual Spring Recital Series at Jones County Junior College, Friday, April 8 at 12:30 p.m. in the Foote Chapel. This week’s recital features one of France’s foremost composers, organist, pianist and teacher, Gabriel Fauré’s. The Impromptu Piano Quartet will be performing Fauré’s dynamic Piano Quartet No. 2. The University of Southern Mississippi string faculty members, Stephen Redfield, violin; Hsiaopei Lee, viola; Alexander Russakovsky, cello, with JCJC piano faculty, Theresa Sanchez will be the featured performers for the “The Dramatic Fauré” recital.
Also during this recital the Fine Arts department will be paying tribute to one of its biggest fans of the program, Dale Walters. The former JCJC VP of Business Affairs was one of the first big supporters of the Spring Recital Series. His life is being remembered with this recital as a musical tribute to his contributions to the program and the college. Walters was involved in getting the piano for the chapel, as well as several of other instruments. He lost his battle with cancer January, 2010.
All concerts are free and open to the public. For more information call the JCJC Fine Arts Department at 601-477-4094 or look online at www.jcjc.edu/programs/finearts.
