ELLISVILLE – Jones County Junior College’s vocal ensemble, JC Voices is inviting the public to its spring concert, “Bach and Beyond,” on Tuesday, March 29, at First-Trinity Presbyterian Church in Laurel.    The 16-voice vocal ensemble will be highlighting the music of Bach, Rheinberger, Vivaldi, Basler, Bestor, Davison, and others. The performance is free and open to the public.

In addition to the ensemble performances, the audience will enjoy a duet from Vivaldi's “Gloria,” performed by sopranos Mary Laura Boyett of Laurel and Staci Thornton of State Line. The concert will also include a beautiful women's ensemble performance of  “I Carry Your Heart,” based on the famous E.E. Cummings poem, and a men's chorus extravaganza, “Manly Men,”  that's sure to make you smile.

The JC Voices concert, conducted by Dr. Susan Smith, will include JCJC faculty performances by Dr. Victoria Johnson, Mrs. Kay Guiles, Mr. Patrick Richards, and Dr. Theresa Sanchez. JCJC student percussionists Nathan Ball of Ellisville and Anthony Luker of Laurel will also assist the ensemble in the processional “Personent Hodie.” For more information contact the Fine Arts Department at 601-477-
