Bobcat tennis teams rout Holmes

GOODMAN – The Jones County Junior College tennis teams rolled to a pair of 9-0 victories over Holmes Community College here Thursday afternoon.
The Bobcat teams are both 2-1 on the season and will be at home for three matches next week.
JCJC will host East Central Community College on Monday, Itawamba Community College on Tuesday and Co-Lin Community College on Thursday at the Bobcat Tennis Courts. All matches begin at 2 p.m.
Lady Bobcats 9, Lady Bulldogs 0
Rachel Jefcoat defeated Jennifer Holland, 6-3, 6-2, in No. 1 singles, Arlette Cochran defeated Ciara Applewhite, 6-1, 6-1, in No. 2 singles and Brandy Freeman downed Taylor Morgan, 6-2, 6-0, in No. 3 singles. Alison Rudolph won No. 4 singles over Kadey Eaves, 6-1, 6-1, and Lauren Carpenter took No. 5 singles over Mary Brooke Lott, 6-1, 6-3. Amber Long won No. 6 singles by forfeit.
Jefcoat and Rudolph defeated Holland and Morgan, 8-4, in No. 1 doubles and Cochran and Freeman took No. 2 doubles over Applewhite and Eaves, 8-1. Carpenter and Long won No. 3 doubles by forfeit.
Bobcats 9, Bulldogs 0
The JCJC men only lost one game in whipping Holmes.
Sam Thorold won No. 1 singles over Casey Macumber, 6-0, 6-1. Nick Williams took No. 2 singles over Hunter Herrington, 6-0, 6-0; Cade Sherman blanked Mitchell Parkman 6-0, 6-0, in No. 3 singles and Armand Deniakos defeated Jared Lyons, 6-0, 6-0, in No. 4 singles. Mitchell Smith and Casper Wansley won No. 5 and No. 6 singles, respectively, by forfeit.
Thorold and Sherman beat Macumber and Lyons, 8-0, in No. 1 doubles, while Williams and Deniakos downed Herrington and Parkman, 8-0, in No. 2 doubles. Smith and Wansley won No. 3 doubles by forfeit.
