GOODMAN – Ginger Lonergan threw a no-hitter to help the Jones County Junior College Lady Bobcats defeat Holmes Community College 2-0 in game two of a doubleheader here Saturday afternoon.
Lonergan, who tossed a perfect game on Feb. 11 against Jeff Davis Community College (Ala.), struck out 16 and only faced one batter over the minimum. A Holmes’ batter reached base via an error, as Lonergan improved to 6-0 on the year.
In game one, the Lady Bobcats got a solid pitching performance from Lauren Candies and notched a 6-2 decision.
The Lady Bobcats, now 14-2, will host 12th-ranked Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College in the South Division opener on Wednesday at Community Bank Park. Game times are 3 and 5 p.m.
