Bobcat basketball teams head to Region 23 Tournament

ELLISVILLE – The Jones County Junior College basketball teams will be competing in the Region 23 Tournament Monday through Thursday in the A.E. Wood Coliseum on the campus of Mississippi College in Clinton.

The Lady Bobcats, 19-7 and the MACJC Tournament runnerups to Co-Lin, will face East Mississippi Community College at 6 p.m. on Tuesday. The winner of that game will take on the winner of the Meridian Community College/Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College game at 8 p.m. on Wednesday in the semifinals.

The women’s championship game is slated for 6 p.m. on Thursday.

On the men’s side, the Bobcats, 15-8, play Miss-Lou Conference champion Southern-Shreveport Community College (La.) at 8 p.m. on Monday. The JCJC/Southern-Shreveport winner meets the Mississippi Gulf Coast/Itawamba winner at 2 p.m. on Wednesday.

The men’s title game will be at 8 p.m. on Thursday.

The women’s regional winner will head to the NJCAA Division I Women’s Tournament March 15-19 at the Bicentennial Center in Salina, Kan.

The men’s regional winner will head to the NJCAA Division I Men’s Tournament March 15-19 at the Sports Arena in Hutchinson, Kan.

All games involving JCJC teams at the Region 23 Tournament will be televised live on with Lance Pittman and Mark Easley on the call.
