Bobcats finish eighth in MGCCC Invitational

PASS CHRISTIAN – Jones County Junior College finished eighth in the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College Invitational here Monday at The Oaks Golf Club.
JCJC posted a team score of 682.
The Bobcats fired a team total of 349 on Monday after shooting a 333 on Sunday.
On Monday, Jared Hodge shot an 86, while Braxton Spiers and Markas Holifield each shot an 87, Mitchell Smith fired an 89 and Ryan Blackwell had a 95. Individually, Andrew McMahan shot a 78 and Bing Waldron had a 90.
Over two days, Smith had an 80-89 – 169, Hodge had an 85-86 – 171, Spiers had an 86-87 – 173, Holifield had a 90-87 – 177 and Blackwell shot an 82-95 – 177. McMahan had an 82-78 – 160 and Waldron shot a 90-90 – 180. McMahan finished tied for ninth in the tournament.
MGCCC captured the team title with a 615, while Co-Lin was second at 633 and Northwest was third with a 662.
Gulf Coast’s Marcus Fox was tournament medalist with a 75-76 – 151, edging Co-Lin’s Bennett Ruschewski, who shot a 75-77 – 152. Justin Danise of Co-Lin was third with a 77-76 – 153.
Ten teams and 61 individuals participated in the tournament.
The Bobcats will compete next in the Co-Lin Community College Invitational on March 6-7. The golfers will play on March 6 at Wolf Hollow Golf Club on the Co-Lin campus and will conclude the event on March 7 at Brookhaven Country Club.
