ELLISVILLE – Softball season is one month away for the Jones County Junior College Lady Bobcats.
Head coach Chris Robinson’s team was able to take batting practice for the first time in the hitting facility of the new $2.8 million Community Bank Park on Friday afternoon.
The baseball/softball complex will officially open on Feb. 9 when head coach Christian Ostrander’s baseball Bobcats host Baton Rouge Community College (La.) at 2 p.m. and the Lady Bobcats meet Holmes Community College at 2:30 p.m.
There will be a ribbon cutting and ceremonial first pitches at both fields, along with several other activities on that day. More details will be announced later.
The baseball stadium will have 520 seats, while the softball stadium will have 266 seats. New press boxes, scoreboards and dugouts will be at both fields, along with a concession stand and a centrally located admission area.
