JCJC seeks nominations for Sports Hall of Fame

ELLISVILLE – Jones County Junior College is now accepting nominations for the Class of 2011 JCJC Sports Hall of Fame through Feb. 13.
Coaches and athletic directors must be out of active coaching at JCJC for at least three years before nomination. Athletes must have been out of intercollegiate athletics for at least 10 years before nomination. Individuals other than coaches or athletes who have made major contributions to JCJC athletics may also be considered for nomination. Individuals nominated must be a member of the JCJC Alumni Association.
Factors to be considered in the selection process are:
- Athletic and leadership accomplishments while at JCJC, other institutions and professional organizations.
- Community involvement and community service.
- Continual support of JCJC.
- Consideration of character and leadership qualities.
- Inductees must attend ceremony or be represented by family, if deceased.
All nominations placed before the Selection Committee shall be considered. If a nominee is not selected, his/her nomination shall be considered for the next three years. A maximum of five inductees will be selected each year. One of the inductees may be elected posthumously.
The selection committee may choose one alternate each year who will be given preferential consideration the following year.
A three-fourths vote of the committee shall be required for election into the Hall of Fame and no election shall be valid unless as many as five members of the committee are present and voting. No proxy or absentee voters will be permitted.
The JCJC Athletic Hall of Fame Weekend will be held in conjunction with a home football game in September. Inductees will receive a JCJC Athletic Hall of Fame award.
