Lady Bobcats whip Northeast Miss. CC

 BOONEVILLE – The Jones County Junior College basketball teams split a pair of games here Thursday night vs. Northeast Mississippi Community College at Bonner Arnold Coliseum.

The Lady Bobcats improved to 8-3 with a 95-73 whipping of the Lady Tigers.  JCJC defeated NEMCC 103-67 on Nov. 15 at A.B. Howard Gymnasium.

Tanecka Carey paced four JCJC players in double figures with 21 points. Alondra Rivers added 19, while Tierro Frost and Alecia Autman scored 14 each.

Anna Brooke Page led Northeast, 5-6, with 19 points. Tiffany Martin added 13 and Erin Strowder had 10.

JCJC led 49-26 at halftime.

In the men’s game, JCJC led 38-34 at halftime, but Northeast rallied to post a 90-80 victory.

Brandon Givens led Jones, 4-7, with 21 points, while Rico Rankins added 15. Derrious Gilmore had 10 and Kelvin Nixon added 9.

Tyler Pritchard paced the Tigers, 4-8, with 20 points, while Jermaine Hollimon added 14. Robert Wade, Cedric Janes and Daniel Burton had 12 each.

JCJC had beaten Northeast 87-85 earlier this season.

The Bobcat teams resume South Division play on Monday at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. The women’s game tips off at 6 p.m., followed by the men’s game at 8 p.m. Those games will air (audio only) on Airtime will be 5:55 p.m.

The next home games for JCJC will be on Jan. 13 against Delgado Community College (La.). The women’s game begins at 5 p.m., followed by the men’s game at 7 p.m. Those games will be televised live on with Lance Pittman and Mark Easley on the call. Airtime will be 4:55 p.m.
