JCJC’s Madrigals and More Concert at Laurel’s First Presbyterian Church

ELLISVILLE – The Jones County Junior College Fine Arts department will be performing in a special concert, co-sponsored by the First-Trinity Presbyterian Church of Laurel, on Tuesday, October19, at 7 p.m. This concert will feature music primarily from the Renaissance and Baroque periods and will highlight the work of many chamber groups and soloists from Jones County Junior College. The concert is open to the public and free of charge.
The ‘Madrigals and More’ concert will feature the JC Voices-Madrigal Singers under the direction of Dr. Susan Smith. In addition to student performers, the concert will also feature faculty performers Dr. Michael Boyd (harp-theorbo), Mr. Jeff Brown (marimba), Mrs. Kay Guiles (organ), Dr. Victoria Johnson (harpsichord), and Mrs. Meri Newell (recorder). 
Student performers and groups include the Bobcat Brass, under the direction of Mr. Patrick Richards, the Renaissance Quartet, and duets featuring lute and recorder. The audience will enjoy works from well-known composers such as Bach, Dowland, Morley, and Buxtehude, as well as works from lesser-known composers Bannister, Aubert, and Johnson. For more information call the JCJC Fine Arts department at 601-477-4094.
