Lady Bobcats claim seventh straight victory

WESSON – The Jones County Junior College Lady Bobcats moved one step closer to claiming the MACJC South Division title here Tuesday night.
The Lady Bobcats blanked Co-Lin Community College, 4-0. It was the seventh straight victory for head coach Dolores Deasley’s team.
JCJC is now 11-2-1 overall and 6-1 in division play.
If the Lady Bobcats defeat Southwest Mississippi Community College at home on Friday, then they will clinch the division title and will host the MACJC State Tournament on Oct. 23-24.
Dana Ivey, Macey Endris, Arlette Cochran and Aubrey Weems scored goals for Jones. Chelsea Wooten had two assists and Danica Roberts had one. Michelle Brumfield got the shutout in goal for Jones.
Roberts leads the state in goals scored and total points. She has 13 goals on the year and one assist for 27 points.
Friday’s game is the regular season finale for JCJC. The contest will start at 2 p.m. and it will be “Sophomore Day” on the Bobcat Soccer Field.
Co-Lin falls to 5-6 overall and 1-5 in the division.
Bobcats 11, Wolves 1
Manuel Ferrer got the ‘hat trick’ for the Bobcats as they routed the Wolves, 11-1.
Ferrer had three goals and two assists. Nick Peden and Jake Benton each had two goals and an assist, while Giuliano Mancini had two goals. Patrick Coates had a goal and an assist, while John-Mark Harris had a goal.
Josh Corley and Mason Tabb each had a pair of assists.
The Bobcats, 7-7 overall and 3-4 in the division, end regular season play by hosting Southwest at 4 p.m. on Friday.
Co-Lin falls to 2-9 overall, 1-5 in league play.
