Bobcat soccer teams blank Southwest

 SUMMIT – The Jones County Junior College Bobcat soccer teams enjoyed a terrific day on the soccer field here Wednesday afternoon.

The JCJC teams blanked the Southwest Mississippi Community College Bears by identical 6-0 scores.

In the women’s game, JCJC’s Brandee Kovacevich scored two goals, while Danica Roberts, Bridget Dennis, Macey Endris and Chelsea Wooten added one goal each. Roberts and Endris each had a pair of assists and Audrey Borchardt had one assist.

The Lady Bobcats are now 6-2-1 overall and 3-1 in the South Division. Southwest falls to 1-4 overall, 0-3 in division play.

In the men’s game, the Bobcats got a pair of goals from Nick Peden and one goal each from Josh Corley, Mackenzie Johnson, Patrick Coates and Michael Skaggs. Mason Tabb, Giuliano Mancini, Coates, Jake Benton and Manuel Ferrer had assists.

The Bobcats improve to 4-5 overall, 2-2 in division play. Southwest drops to 1-4 overall and 0-3 in the division.

The JCJC teams will head to Senatobia to take on Northwest Mississippi Community College on Saturday. The women’s game begins at 2 p.m., followed by the men’s game at 4 p.m.
