ELLISVILLE – The Jones County Junior College Fine Arts Department is pleased to partner with the Salvation Army again this year in providing a bit of Christmas cheer for “angels” in the Pine Belt. The public is invited to begin the holiday season by attending, “A Jingle Jazz Christmas,” featuring the JC Jazz, JC Voices and a new group, The Bridge, for an evening of traditional and jazzy Christmas tunes on Thursday, November 30, at 7 p.m. in the M.P. Bush Fine Arts Auditorium on the JCJC campus in Ellisville.

In lieu of a ticket, the students and faculty of the JCJC Fine Arts Department request that you bring one new unwrapped toy for the Salvation Army’s “Angel Tree” program as your admission to the concert. Gift suggestions include toys, sports equipment, board games and plush animals. All the donations will be given to children in our area this Christmas.

“We are also proud Santa will be joining us before the concert at 6 p.m. to take pictures with those who bring a gift for the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program. The pictures with Santa are an additional gift from JCJC and Santa, in appreciation for donating to a worthy cause as we kick off this holiday season of gift-giving and music,” said JCJC Fine Arts Division Chair and JC Voices director, Dr. Susan Smith. “Many of our students receive scholarships and they look forward to performances like this where they can give back to the community and highlight their talent.”

The Jingle Jazz concert will feature an evening of beautiful holiday favorites like, “O Holy Night,” “Sleigh Ride,” and “Big Band Holiday” along with other Christmas favorites performed by the JC Jazz Band under the direction of Dr. Mackenzie Edgley.

The select vocal ensembles, JC Voices and The Bridge, under the direction of Dr. Susan Smith and accompanied by Dr. David Goldblatt will sing several selections including “Gettin’ in the Mood for Christmas” and the familiar and beloved “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.” JC Voices and The Bridge will also share popular tunes like the Pentatonix arrangements of “That’s Christmas to Me,” “Mary Did You Know,” and “White Winter Hymnal.”  Student soloists and duets from both groups will be featured throughout the evening.

Come early and get your family picture taken with our special guest from the North Pole with your gift donation to the Angel Tree program. All toys should be unwrapped and age appropriate. Necessities and Christmas gifts are provided for disadvantaged children from infants to age 12, through the Salvation Army Angel Tree Program in Jones, Jasper, Wayne, Clarke, Smith and Simpson counties.
