ELLISVILLE- Jones County Junior College’s Workforce College and the Mississippi Integrated Basic Education and Skills Training (MI-BEST) program invite the public to learn more about the education and workforce training opportunities available at the JCJC Advanced Technology Center (ATC).  The “Open House” will be on Tuesday, October 17, from 4:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m.  Visitors will have the opportunity to meet instructors and students to learn about the variety of programs available to improve education and skills.
“The Open House will showcase the MI-BEST program and the positive effects it is having on hundreds in our community. This program is designed to help Mississippi residents who do not have a high school diploma or its equivalency. Additionally, potential students can learn about the MIBEST pathways or career programs, like welding, business office technology and health care data technology, commercial and residential maintenance, commercial truck driving and the certified nurse assistants program. We will also discuss the requirements for each program,” said MI-BEST program director, Wendy Evans.
The informational event will also have Workforce College coordinators available to discuss short term class options to improve or gain job skills. Tours of the welding lab and other departments located within the ATC, such as Adult Education, Workforce Development, and EDGE will be available.
“Employers are also invited to attend to connect with potential employees and learn about training opportunities provided through various Workforce College programs,” added Webb Evans, Workforce College Coordinator.
Refreshments will be provided and door prizes will be given away. For more information call 601-477-2228 or 601-477-4114.
