Lady Bobcats fall to Meridian CC, 4-3

 MERIDIAN – The Jones County Junior College Lady Bobcats came up just short here Thursday afternoon vs. Meridian Community College.

The Lady Eagles led 2-0 at intermission and went on to defeat the Lady Bobcats, 4-3.

JCJC tied the game with two goals in the first four minutes of the second half. Jade McLeod scored off an assist by Chelsea Wooten. Wooten then tied the game with a goal off an assist by Britnee Kovacevich.

MCC then took a 3-2 lead, but JCJC tied it when Brandee Kovacevich scored off an assist by Danica Roberts. The Lady Eagles then scored the game-winner in the final 10 minutes.

The Lady Bobcats are now 4-2-1 on the season, while Meridian is 5-0-1.

JCJC returns to South Division play at home on Saturday vs. Co-Lin. The game has been moved from 2 p.m. to a 2:30 p.m. start. The men’s game will follow at 4:30 p.m.

MCC goes to Hinds on Sept. 28.
