ELLISVILLE – Jones County Junior College’s Concert and Symphonic Bands will be presenting their annual Spring Concert on Thursday, April 6, at 7 p.m. in the Fine Arts Auditorium. The Concert Band is under the direction of Lindsey Keay, Assistant Director of Bands and the Symphonic Band is directed by Dr. Ben Burge, JCJC’s Director of Bands.

The Symphonic Band will be performing two unique pieces, “Sheltering Sky” by John Mackey and “Three Ayers from Gloucester” by Hugh Smith, along with the “bombastic” Spanish March, “Black Granite March” by James Hosay.  The Concert Band may also make the audience feel like they are in Spain with the traditional Spanish March, “Spania” by David Shaffer.  The Concert Band will also present “Beyond the Darkness” by James Swearingen and “Legends in the Mist” by Michael Sweeney.

The Symphonic Band concludes the concert with Robert Sheldon’s, “Metroplex, Three Postcards From Manhattan” which is a modern composition reflecting the bustling city life on the streets of New York City.

The public is invited to the concert free of charge. For more information about the JCJC Band Program, contact Dr. Ben Burge at 601-477-4095 or email: ben.burge@jcjc.edu
