JCJC’s Clarke County Center is registering for fall classes

ELLISVILLE – Jones County Junior College’s Center in Stonewall will begin registering students for classes offered this fall at the Center on Monday, August 1, from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. This registration period is only for the workforce classes offered in Clarke County.
The non-credit (workforce) Welding class will meet Monday through Thursday, from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m., beginning Monday, August 22, 2016 through October 10, 2016. The eight-week welding class will cover welding safety, Oxyfuel cutting, base metal preparation, weld quality, SMAW, equipment and setup, electrodes and selection, and bead and fillet welds. The welding class costs $250. Students will earn NCCER CORE credentialing upon completion of this course.
Entry Level Petroleum Trainee class will be offered Monday through Thursday, beginning September 12, 2016 through December 1, 2016, from 9 a.m. to 1p.m. The ELPT course prepares students for an entry level position into the oil and gas industry, on land or offshore, as well as to qualify students for employment with a wide range of local industries. Upon completion of the ELPT fall course, students will receive the following certifications: Entry Level Petroleum Trainee, Career Readiness Certificate, Safety Environmental Management Systems, RigPass/SafeLand/SafeGulf, Forklift, First Aid/CPR, Basic Marine Firefighting, NCCER CORE Curriculum, NCCER Advanced Rigging, IADC Intro to WellSharp, Capital Safety Fall Protection/Working at Heights, Capital Safety Confined Space, HUET, TWIC card, OSHA-10 and the Mr. Charlie Experience.
Academic credit courses, Western Civilization 1 and College Algebra, along with Adult Education (GED) classes will also be offered in the fall. College Algebra will meet on Thursdays, from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. and Western Civilization 1 will meet on Wednesdays, from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. These credit classes begin the week of August 22.
