Bobcats move up to No. 11 in NJCAA poll

ELLISVILLE – On the heels of an impressive 34-3 season-opening victory over Mississippi Delta Community College, the Jones County Junior College Bobcats made a substantial move in the NJCAA rankings.

The Bobcats moved all the way up to No. 11 in this week’s poll, which was released Tuesday morning. JCJC was rated No. 19 last week.

Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College is the highest-ranked MACJC school at No. 3. Northwest Mississippi Community College is rated No. 15, East Mississippi is No. 16, while Pearl River and Co-Lin each received votes.

Blinn College (Texas), 2-0, tops the poll, followed by Arizona Western College, 1-0. Butler Community College (Kan.), 2-0, is fourth and Snow College (Utah), 1-0, is fifth. To view the complete poll, go to www.njcaa.org.

Head coach Eddie Pierce’s Bobcats will continue play at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday when they travel to Clarksdale to take on Coahoma Community College, 0-1. The game can be heard on www.jcjc.tv (audio only) and on WGDQ-FM, 93.1, with Lance Pittman calling play-by-play and Mark Easley providing commentary.
