JCJC is offering Ship-fitting classes in Greene County

ELLISVILLE – Jones County Junior College’s Workforce Development is offering a new two-month Ship-fitting class at the JCJC Greene County Learning Center in Leakesville.  Classes will be held Monday, Wednesday and Saturday, from 7 a.m. until 12 p.m., beginning on October 19, 2015 through December 16, 2015.

The course will cover basic safety, rigging, communication skills, employability skills, and an introduction to construction math, hand tools, power tools and construction drawing. The Maritime Structural Fitting Level One Course will teach welding safety, oxyfuel cutting, base metal prep, shielded metal arc welding, welding quality, tack welding, fitting and fire safety. 

Upon completion of this course, students will be credentialed in ship fitting.  The cost of class is $350. To register for the Ship-fitting class, call 601-394-4421.
