JCJC’s “Operation JumpStart,” small business training expands to Covington County

ELLISVILLE - Entrepreneurs in Covington County will now have the opportunity to realize their dreams of small business ownership with the help of Jones County Junior College’s, “Operation JumpStart.”  A free introduction of the program will be held on Thursday, September 3, at 3 p.m. at Peoples Bank in Collins to discuss the six-week, nationally-recognized, highly successful training model delivered to individuals who want to start or expand a small business. The Operation JumpStart: First Step curriculum teaches participants essential small business planning and preparation skills with practical hands-on training from experts in the field. 
 
“By offering hands-on training and business advice from our business sponsors and business leaders, participants can be more successful. They get to see how the process works instead of us telling them what they need to do to start a business.” said Deborah Smith, JCJC Operation JumpStart Instructor. 
 
The training program will be held on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. for six weeks beginning on Tuesday, September 8 through Thursday, October 15. Classes will meet at Peoples Bank, located at 704 Main Street in Collins.
 
With help from sponsorships from Peoples Bank in Collins, the Operation JumpStart tuition is only $250. Applications can be picked up at the JCJC Advanced Technology Center in Ellisville.
