ELLISVILLE –With only a couple of days to rehearse, about 30 musicians from Hawaii, Mississippi, Texas, Oklahoma, Ohio, North Carolina, California, Virginia, Louisiana and Tennessee will perform a concert on Sunday, June 14, at 4 p.m. at Jones County Junior College’s Fine Arts Auditorium. The public is invited to this free concert featuring high school, college, pre-professional and professional brass musicians, which concludes the first, Roger Bobo Brass Festival.
Bobo is a 77-year old brass pedagogue, adjudicator, clinician and conductor who is known internationally for his performance on tuba, and has performed with the L.A. Philharmonic. Bobo may be best known for revolutionizing the brass musician’s role in the music industry with his release of a series of solo recordings. He has also recorded with the L.A. Philharmonic, including many of Hollywood’s most notable soundtracks including Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi, and Close Encounters. He also appeared on Johnny Carson’s Tonight Show several times and has taught in Switzerland, Japan, Italy and Mexico.
