State Supreme Court Justice Pierce Teaching Course at JCJC

ELLISVILLE  - Jones County Junior College students will have the opportunity to learn about government this fall from a well-known Mississippian.  State Supreme Court Justice Randy "Bubba" Pierce has joined the college as an adjunct faculty member.   The associate justice will now teach on the same campus where he was once a student.

Pierce is teaching American National Government in the Division of Social Sciences on Thursday evenings.
JCJC President Dr. Jesse Smith believes students will gain valuable insight from Pierce's government course.

"We are honored that Justice Pierce will bring his wealth of knowledge to our students. The students who are fortunate enough to get into his class will receive a world-class education. We are so proud of Justice Pierce's success, and we know that he will inspire his students to achieve great success as well," said Pierce.

Pierce is an alumnus of JCJC later receiving a Bachelor of Science in Accounting at the University of Mississippi.  After becoming a CPA (Certified Public Accountant), Pierce earned a Masters Degree in Business Administration from USM.  Pierce graduated from the University of Mississippi Law School shortly after.  During his time in law school, he served as president of the law school student body.

Pierce entered private law practice while serving the Mississippi legislature for District 105 from 1999-2005. As a legislator, he served as Chairman of the House Education Committee and Appropriations Subcommittee on Public Education. After leaving the legislature, he was appointed a judge of the Mississippi 16th Chancery District by Gov. Haley Barbour.

In  November 2008, Pierce was elected Supreme Court Justice for Place 2 in the Southern District, which covers 27 South Mississippi counties.  His current term ends in 2016.
Randy is a member of the Mississippi Bar, Mississippi Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.  He is also a member of the Jones County Junior College Foundation Board.

Randy “Bubba” Pierce grew up in the Unity Community of Greene County, where he currently resides. He graduated from Leakesville High School in 1982.
