“Treats in the Streets” at JCJC includes a student art show

ELLISVILLE- Jones County Junior College’s Student Government Association along with campus clubs and organizations, and the city of Ellisville will be hosting the annual “Treats in the Streets” night of activities on Thursday, October 30, 2014 from 4:30 p.m. until 7 p.m. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
This year, JCJC’s Rho Sigma chapter of Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society is sponsoring a High School Art Walk in conjunction with the annual “Treats in the Streets” celebration. The location for the Art Walk will be in the Terrell Tisdale Library lobby. Admission is free and open to the public. All artwork will be displayed in a clothesline fashion so no hangers are necessary. Other guidelines include: No artwork over 14 inches in any direction will be accepted for the exhibit; All art must be 2-dimensional and should be “fall” themed; No more than 15 pieces of art may be submitted from each school. Art must be turned in by October 23. There is no entry fee for submissions which can be delivered to the Terrell Tisdale Library lobby, on October 21, through 23, from 3:30 p.m. until 5 p.m.
The annual Treats in the Streets celebration is an outdoor event and will be cancelled or modified, and moved indoors to the PE Building if it rains or if the weather is not conducive for children. The Art Walk, which is held indoors, will continue regardless of weather.
From 4:30 p.m. until 7 p.m. for kids ages 0 to 12 years, JCJC clubs and organizations will have treats and games available around, and between the library and student center square. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
The costume contests will begin at 5:30 p.m. in the art gallery area for kids of all ages. At 6 p.m. a costume contest for JCJC students will begin.
From 4:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m., the JCJC all-you-can-eat cafeteria will stay open for dinner. The cost for children ages 4 to 9 years of age is $4.63, and children ages 9 and adults is $6.90.
Taco Bell & the Bobcat Grill, both located behind the A.B. Howard Gymnasium, will be open till 9:30 p.m.
