JCJC celebrates Homecoming 2014

ELLISVILLE – Plans are underway to make Homecoming at Jones County Junior College a special event. The weekend of activities begins Friday, October 17, with the annual Homecoming Golf Tournament held at Dixie Golf Club. The day begins at 7 a.m. with breakfast followed by an 8 a.m. shotgun start. The 3-man select shot event is sponsored by the JCJC Hardwood Club, which is a fund-raiser for the Bobcat basketball teams. The college will recognize three alumni at the Honor Alumnus Dinner
at 6 p.m. at the Ronald E. Whitehead Advanced Technology Center on Friday, October 17. Reservations for this dinner can be made through the Alumni and Foundation Office at 601-477-4145 or by emailing, firstname.lastname@example.org
The 1964 JCJC and Ellisville High School 50-year reunion classes will hold a reception in the Tullos Suite of Jones Hall at 6 p.m. on Friday, October 17, and the 1955 JCJC class will meet in the Banquet Hall of the C.L. Neill Student Center for a 5 p.m. dinner.
Homecoming Day, Saturday, October 18, is slated to be an entire day of fun for all ages. Events will begin at 9 a.m. with a reception for alumni and friends at the Terrell Tisdale Library. At 10 a.m. the JCJC Homecoming Parade will wind through the streets of Ellisville and the campus. The Homecoming theme this year is, “Love it, Live It, Bobcat Spirit.” The parade will feature floats made by the student body incorporating the theme, as well as the Maroon Typhoon Marching Band, JCJC cheerleaders, Touch of Gold, and of course, the 2014 Homecoming Queen and her court.
At 10:45 a.m. the public is also invited to join the Jones family for a pep rally following the paradein front of the C.L. Neill Student Center. At 11 a.m. the 50-year reunion luncheons will honor members of the Ellisville High School and JCJC classes of 1964. The reunions will be held in the C.L. Neill Student Center for class members and their guests.
Tailgating begins at 11:30 a.m. at the tennis complex at the Sim Cooley Football Field for $5 per person. The 1964 Football Team Reunion will also meet under the tents at the Sim Cooley Football Field. Make reservations through the JCJC Alumni and Foundation Office at 601-477-4145.
The Homecoming football pre-game festivities will begin at 1:30 p.m. with the marching band’s pre-game show on the Sim Cooley Football Field at Bobcat Stadium. The game against Hinds Community College will begin at 2 p.m.
At halftime, the Homecoming Court will be presented with the crowning of the 2014 Homecoming Queen, Haley Middleton. Also during halftime, the JCJC and the Ellisville High School honored classes, and the 2014 Honor Alumni will be recognized at this time.
