ELLISVILLE - Entrepreneurs in the Bay Springs area now have the opportunity to realize their dreams of small business ownership with the help of Jones County Junior College’s new program, “Operation JumpStart.” This six-week course is a nationally-recognized, highly successful training model delivered to individuals who want to start or expand a small business. The Operation JumpStart: First Step curriculum teaches participants essential small business planning and preparation skills with practical hands-on training from experts in the field.
The training program will be held on Monday and Thursday evenings from 5:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. for six weeks beginning on Monday, May 12, through Thursday, June 19. Classes will meet at Omni Bank in Bay Springs.
“We are excited to be able to expand to Jasper County with the help of Omni Bank,” said program director, Gary Suddith. “This will have a significant impact on the employment rates in the area, increasing federal, state and local tax revenues by promoting micro-enterprise development.”
The Operation JumpStart tuition is $750 however, qualifying applicants may be able to receive a $250 scholarship discount from JCJC and a $250 scholarship from a participating sponsor, leaving the remaining $250 to be paid by the participant.
Interested participants need to register by May 9, to be considered for the Operation JumpStart program. To apply for this new business coaching and training program, contact: Shannon Wilks at 601-477-4114 or email: Shannon.email@example.com or call Crystal Nail at 601-477-4235 or Gary Suddith at 601-477-4165.
“The idea is to get supporting partners to assist by offering hands-on training and business advice,” said Suddith. “Instead of just telling people what they need to start a business we are going to show them how to do it during the six week course. This method will ensure a greater success rate over the long term for new businesses.”
