ELLISVILLE - JC Jazz and JC Voices, two of the small ensemble student groups at Jones County Junior College will continue a thirteen year tradition with its annual Java & Jazz concert on Thursday, April 24, at 7 p.m. in the Banquet Hall of the C.L. Neill Student Center. This free concert will feature works by Louis Prima and Josef Zawinul among others. Concert regulars will also recognize some tunes recorded by Carlos Santana and Duke Ellington. “First Love, Last Kiss” by Carole Wylie will feature sophomore trumpet player, Caleb Guilbeau. Additionally, JC Jazz director Jeff Brown will premiere an original tune entitled, “Canicular Nights.”

Joining JC Jazz will be the JC Jazz Combo and the JC Voices groups. The JC Jazz Combo is a seven-member improvisation group; every performance is unique! JC Voices directed by Fine Arts Division Chair, Dr. Susan Smith promises to bring something “fresh” to the concert with outstanding vocal jazz selections, for a lively evening of Java & Jazz.
