ELLISVILLE - The final Concert Choir and JC Voices combined concert is on Sunday, April 6, at First Baptist Church of Laurel, at 3:30 p.m.  The concert is free and open to the public.

The central theme of the Concert Choir programs is, “Working Together to Make Beautiful Music.”  The choir will collaborate with a variety of instrumentalists and soloists during this program.  The April 6 concert will feature, The Magnificat, a major work attributed to Giovanni Battista Pergolesi, with guest string players from The University of Southern Mississippi and Soprano, Alto, Tenor, and Bass soloists from JCJC.  The choir will also perform a variety of twentieth-century works, including pieces in English, Spanish, Latin, and French.  The accompanist for Concert Choir, Kay Guiles will be joined by JC Voices accompanist, Dr. Victoria Johnson, for a four-hand accompaniment of the energetic and percussive Ritmo, followed by JC Voices, performing two jazz arrangements of traditional hymn selections.

The Concert Choir and JC Voices will delight the audience with an impressive example of their team work with Twa Tanbou, by Sydney Guillaume, a composer originally from Port-au-Prince, Haiti, who expresses the choir's philosophy beautifully through the text of the song, which states the philosophy that in order for a team to reach the optimal result, each member must play his or her own part with no room for self-obsessed glory; if everyone works together, there will be beautiful music!    For more information call 477-4094.
